Mostly drinking Romulan ale
James from Australia used his FaceBook in-line IM chat thingy this morning to ask what the frack am I doing with a blog and shouldn’t I be focusing my precious writing time on my next novel for HarperCollins Voyager?
Fear not, Jackelian reader, for book 5 in the series in now in copy-edits (alias the ‘Hunt The Typo’ game), and even has an agreed title, ‘Jack Cloudie’.
Book 6, which doesn’t have a name yet (well, only a working title, which I’m not going to jinx), is what I am currently working hard on.

Stephen King advises me that I would be wise to finish the book three or four months before deadline, let it rest like a fine wine for two months, then come back to it with fresh and less jaded eyes for the final polish-up.
I’m not sure If I will be able to manage that, even for Stephen, but it sounds like a noble goal to aim for.
Oh, and James, I’ll put my thinking hat on about what I can say about the sixth book in a future post without giving too much away.
